    Hello AB Cup Racers!

The weather is warming up and it should be a fantastic day of racing on Saturday.  One forecast is for light snow through the day with an overnight low of -15 C, but getting to a high of -6 C.

    Start times
Check Zone4 for start time. Link here: https://zone4.ca/event/2021/ABCup1/

    Drop off times and location
U10 Boys: 10:15 am at the American Flag. U10 boys will be warmed up by Alexis MacIntosh.
U10 Girls: 10:25 at the American Flag. U10 girls will be warmed up by Sara Renner.
U12 Boys: 11:00 am at the American Flag. U12 boys will be warmed up by Michel Tessier.
U12 Girls: Meet at 11:15 at the American flag.  U12 girls will be warmed up by Aria Grandi and Anna Parent.
Prior to drop off, pick up your child’s bib at Wax Room 2. Be sure your child has had a bathroom prior as well.

It is an individual start and Track Attack kids will start every 15 seconds.

Warm up to cool down: volunteers will warm up, get the kiddos to the start line and lead the cool down. There will be spots on the course for you all to cheer wildly. Once the cool down is complete, usually 30 minutes after finishing, you can retrieve your child at the American Flag or sliding in a snow bank within sight.

To save yourself an early morning on Sunday and multiple trips to the Nordic Center, bring the classic skis to the Canmore Nordic wax room (#2 in biathlon) before or after the race on Saturday. Scroll down for the expectations on classic ski preparation.

Glide wax: CH4 or equivalent temperature (-10) for both Saturday and Sunday’s races. If you are feeling keen, glide wax and scrape both skate and classic skis. Glide waxing kids skis is not mandatory and, at this age, does not effect performance. If you don’t have wax, your least favourite Christmas candles work too.  It can be a fun or funny family activity.

Classic skis: The Canmore Nordic Wax Team will take care of grip waxing your child’s skis. The expectation is that the skis are marked with your child’s name, all kick wax is removed and the skis are cleaned and the wax zone is marked with a Sharpie. If you didn’t bring classic skis on Saturday, be sure to drop them off at Wax Room 2 no later than two hours before start time. Note: for classic skis, you do not glide wax in the kick wax zone.

A reminder from the Organizing Committee, We are still in COVID times so we need to limit our time at the venue.  Please Arrive- Warm Up- Race- Cool Down- Depart.  Don’t linger and hang out at the venue.

Awards are planned for 13:05 for those who raced in the early morning, and at 16:15 for those that race in the afternoon.  Only stay for awards (or come back) if you are receiving an award.
