AB Cup #3- Skate Sprint
Weather: Low -5 High +3. Sunny w/ moderate wind
Race format:
Qualifier for everyone (15 sec interval start) then 3 rounds of ladder style heats of 6 racers.
For the U14 and older, the AB Cup/CPL points will come from your qualifier result. Leave it all out there in your qualifier! It is a very quick course so every second will count in the end. Push the transitions, tuck low, and free skate hard. Awards will come from the final place on the ladder after the 3 heats.
Heats will combine all racers doing the same distance, so you will race with similar speed competitors each heat.
Heats will start every minute (over 140 heats for the day!), so be sure you are early for the posted time of your heat and paying attention to the chief of start. Heat brackets posted on the bottom of the AB Cup zone4 page HERE
Keep your bib all day (Qualifier & Heats). Hand in your chip at the finish of your qualifier.

With such a long break between your qualifier and heats, I recommend you head home (or to a friend’s house) to relax.
Check in at the teamroom 1 hour before your start to collect your bib. We do not have an extra wax room for you to hang out in like last time, but you can leave bags outside the teamroom. Race skis will be on the wall outside when they are ready. We will not rewax between the qualifier and heats.
Boys- Meet at the teamroom at 9:00 for the team warm up with Matt
Girls- Meet at the teamroom at 9:11 for the team warm up with Issy Hendry
For the heats: Everyone meet at the teamroom at 1:15 to warm up again. Be sure you still have your bib!
Be sure to drop off your classic race skis in the teamroom at the end of the day before you go home.
Racing is hard, but that challenge is what makes it fun by pushing yourself to your limit and onto the next level. Enjoy the hurt, you can rest at the finish line. -Matt
