    Hello,

The final week of summer training is upon us, as is the wildfire smoke. There is rain in the forecast, so things should improve, but be patient and look after your lungs. Check the forum before training to know of updates.

    Training this week:
Monday(27) LC/LC+ ->Two options for training for the AM:
7:00-11:00 3,000M Running test in Calgary at the Foothills Track https://goo.gl/maps/aRLxW3RSQsM2 Leave Canmore at 7am. Meet at the track and warm up for a 9am race start. This is a great test of running efficiency and fitness. Carpooling would be great so pick up the phone and talk to your teammates.

    From Alain:
Hello, here’s more details about the track workout in Calgary on Monday morning.

The idea with this workout is to use it to track your progress, but also practice racing! Many of you haven’t raced in a long time. It’s important to practice racing in order to improve. Note that the test is 3km.

It looks like the smoke will come back to Canmore/Calgary later Saturday. We need to monitor that before a hard effort on Monday.

    PLAN:
I will post a note on the LC+ FORUM on Monday morning at 6:15am whether the workout is a go or not due to air quality.
We will meet at Elevation Place at 7am to sort out rides and carpooling. There’s a lot of RAD athletes going, perhap no other parents need to drive. As usual, I will let you sort out your own transportation. I have booked the Foothills track, beside McMahon stadium. You will warm up then do the 3km run. We will return to Canmore after, arriving around 11am

WE ARE A GO THIS MORNING. NO SMOKE IN CALGARY BUT A CHANCE OF RAIN AND WINDY.

9:00-10:30 Z2 run on the Montain Trail. Meet at the Eagle.

4:15-5:30 LC+ Strength at the BWTC

Tuesday(28) LC/LC+ 9:00-10:30 Skate Rollerski intensity. Meet at the Holiday Inn.

Wednesday(29) TT/LC/LC+ 8:00-12:00 Hike up to Healy Pass. We will meet in the Sunshine Meadows Parking Lot at 8am sharp to make 2 groups of similar hiking speed. Bring 2L of water, food for 4 hours of training, and a rain jacket. Parents welcome to join on the hike/jog.

“Our ability to move efficiently and with good bio-mechanics is a critical skill for all endurance athletes, and one which requires continual work throughout the career. Learning to move smoothly and efficiently will allow us to put more energy into going faster.” -Tim Crowley 2009 USA Triathlon Elite Coach of the Year, and 2007 USA Triathlon Development Coach of the Year.
