YES, ANOTHER RACE – BUT 6 DAYS AWAY STILL!

THIS SATURDAY IS THE “COOKIE” RACE. IT TAKES PLACE IN PETER LOUGHEED PROVINCIAL PARK. It is always a fun event for all. THIS RACE IS PART OF THE BCRR – 500 POINTS CLUB.

500 points club means if you participate in 4 races, includes all bcrr races, plus the cookie race, plus the CNSC Rocky Mountain ski challenge (March 7th), you get 500 points. So, you get 125 points for each race. Then you will get a year end 500 point prize. past prizes have been, quickdry T-Shirts, hats, water bottle holders etc.

Cookie Race:
We will give you more details about times and wax later in the week. For now check out the details on zone4. or on the Foothills Nordic Ski club website.

under 9 years ski 1km
9 – 11 year olds ski 3 km
12 – 14 year olds ski 5 km

This is based on age as of December 31st 2009. So if you were born in 1997 or earlier, you will be doing 5km. This will be further than you are used to, but if you just take it slow and pace yourself, treat it like a weekend ski, not so much like a Nordic Centre “race”, you will enjoy it. We can talk more about this at practise.

You should register on line as they have a limited maximum number of racers. Online registration closes Wednesday Feb 25 at 9:30 p.m. Alain, Scott and I will be at the race to help with wax selection, application. but a few more volunteers will also be appreciated.
