I hope everyone raced hard in Edmonton and Sovereign and you achieved your goals. The first “racing season” is over, on to preparing for race season #2.

During the holidays, enjoy sleeping in, eating good food and getting out skiing. There is less structure to the training, but it’s important to build a strong base for the racing months ahead. Big gains in fitness can be achieved. Consult your Training Peaks for the individual training sessions – phone a friend. We will update the forum with more details every few days, so check back.

    Tuesday, Dec 23 – LC1 & LC2 10:00 – 11:30 skate ski at CNC, then rolling/stretching

Saturday, Dec 27 – LC1 & LC2 – Classic ski somewhere else. Plan on being gone all morning. More details later.

Great session out there today working on skiathon transitions and a nice bit of intensity. With this cold front moving in we have altered training a bit for the remainder of the week. Even with the alterations try to only have 1 day off this week. Head inside for a swim or spin if it is too cold.

Also, if you are sick, rest. Do not come to team training typically making yourself more sick and risk getting your teammates sick right before they are about to leave for World Junior Trials.

The website just got back online, so we can go back to our usual checking and updating of the forum. But as we said today at the session that we would email the details for the rest of the week are as follows:

Monday (29): 10:00-11:30 LC1/LC2 Strength and rolling. Inside all day. Meet at the Bill Warren Training Centre. If you are traveling to World Junior Trials, Take today off.

Tuesday (30): No XC team training.

Wednesday (31): 10:00-12:00 LC1/LC2 Classic ski with sprints and technique at Canmore Nordic Centre.

Thursday (1): HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! No Team Training

Friday (2): 10:00-12:00 LC1/LC2 Classic Time Trial at Canmore Nordic Centre. Wear your full race suit just like a race to get yourself in the mode of going hard.

Saturday (3): 10:00-11:45 LC1/LC2 Skate distance and strength in gym. LC1’s will start in the gym, LC2’s on snow. Bring clothing for both and recovery drink/food for the end. Dress warmly with the high windchill.

    Sunday (4): No Team training

Monday (5): Back to school. Rest for all

    Happy Holidays! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
