Welcome to Family Week. I hope you are all getting lots of rest and recovery this week so that you can soak up all this great training coming your way.
First off- please respect all of our facilities- Canmore Nordic Centre, Team Room, The Bill Warren, ect. Moving forward please follow these steps for BWTC access:
*All athletes must wait at the top of the stairs in a group to be given access to the gym by a coach – if you are late, you need to find an attendant to give you access.
*Bring your own gym card but do not allow non-CNSC members in with it.
*All athletes without a card need to stop in at the front desk and give their name to the attendant, even if it is Russell and he knows who you are!!
*Anyone caught climbing the railing or trying to access the gym without using a card will not be able to participate in group workouts in the gym!!The early bird registratoin for nationals ends on Saturday February 25 at 23:59 MST. Save yourself some money and register before then: http://www.skinationals2017.com/ All LCs should race all 5 races this year.
AB Cup 7&8 are coming up March 4th and 5th. There is only 1 registration deadline of Wednesday, March 1, 23:59 MT so you can wait until next week to register. Depending on how you are feeling after this big week of training, we can adjust how many of the 3 races at Alberta Championships you choose to do. We are 1/2 way through the Recovery Meal Challenge. Good work bringing something… but let’s try to spice it up a little this week and bring something more than just a bar. Protein smoothies are great, or even a sandwich for after morning training. And remember, there is a prize on the line, so get that recovery on!
6 team training sessions coming at you this week- all AM Sessions start at 9AM:
Tuesday 9:00-11:00 Skate Intensity-Threshold work. Meet at the teamroom.3:00-4:30– All Males meet at the BWTC for Strength
4:00-5:30– Alll Females meet at the BWTC for StrengthWednesday 9:00-11:30 Skate Distance. Meet at the teamroom.
Thursday 9:00-10:00 Skate Distance with Speed work. Meet at the teamroom.
6:15PM-8:00PM- Classic Night Sprint with Foothills Nordic. This is a chance to practice classic sprinting on the Nationals sprint course with some of the other strongest skiers in the west. Take some time and prepare your skis well. We will have a qualifier and 3 rounds of heats, just like at nationals. Meet at the teamroom.
With the cold and fresh snow, Swix Blue Extra should kick well tonight. Also, bring a puffy jacket to stay warm between your heats as the xc stadium is typically quite windy.
Saturday 9:00-11:00 Classic Distance. Meet at the teamroom.
