Matt DeCarufelKeymasterHello TTs,
Happy Family Week! This is a great time to get out and enjoy fun long days on the snow. I do know that many parents still have to work though, so we will keep training in the evenings. No team training on Saturday, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get together for a ski.
All the forecasts are showing a cold front moving in Sunday and temperatures below -20. We will stick with the cold weather guidelines (noted on the home page) and adjust training as the temperature allows. I will try to make the call to cancel or shorten at least 1 hour before the session starts.
We have a great opportunity this week to practice your glide waxing skills and help out LGMS. I was contacted by Assistant Principal Kestle (and Mr. Luders who initially got the ball rolling) to help out the school by glide waxing the school’s ski fleet of 25 skis. They will be paying us for the work which will be used to fund our TT end of the year pizza party! So, TT’s waxing skis for Pizza has arrived. The plan is to do 2 shifts on Wednesday afternoon. If you are available, sign up here. We will be inside the teamroom (with windows open for good ventilation) but everyone will require a mask for the day. If it is too cold to ski on Monday or Tuesday, we may add some bonus waxing shifts 🙂
Training this week:
Monday(21) Classic @ CNC
5:00-6:00 Classic ski. Getting our stride on today! Dress in lots of layers.
We will go ahead with training, shortened to just 1hour, temperature is sitting at -18C at 3:45 and skiing this morning with the LCs was fantastic. Dress approprately (Buff over the ears, toque, mits, multiple layers of clothing). You can always unzip your jacket if you get too hot.Due to the continued cold (surprisingly accurate forecast), looking at those who signed up for Wednesday’s wax day, and those who were able to attend Monday’s session, we will flip flop Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tuesday(22)TTs Wax Skis
If possible, attend tonight at the time you signed up for on the spreadsheet. This will allow for Matt to help you more with your waxing technique. Of course, due to the last minute change, if you can not arrive until 5pm as originally planned for the session, that is just fine. Remember your mask!Wednesday(23) Classic @ CNC
5:00-6:30 Classic Ski. With warmer temperatures we will get a mix of technique work, sprint practice, and a game to wrap up.Thursday(24) Biathlon @ CNC
4:45-6:15 Biathlon trainingSaturday(26) No team training
