February is jam packed with exciting events, from Alberta Winter Games, the Olympics, Alberta Cup 7, the Cookie Race, Calforex cups, family week, and of course lots of great training.

Many of you have done a great job of updating the club race spreadsheet. There are a few more events to sign up for with deadlines of Feb 1 and Feb 15. Head on over to the spreadsheet to check them out. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GagisLYTFC_ISMQjtWHwPmlTVc3bT0-cCIrlfmIpYpE/edit#gid=0

    Calforex Cup #4 in Canmore
Rachel and Garth will share more information about this event on the Biathlon forum or via email

    AB Winter Games
I will send out a trip document closer to the event. We will also have an info session on February 12th at 6:30pm after training. Everyone attending the event for Cross Country Skiing needs to attend this meeting.

    BC Champs
No TTs signed up for BC Champs on the club spreadsheet, but if you choose to attend this event you will need to book your own accommodation. Please contact Alain if you choose to go.

    Cookie Race
This is a fun race down in Kananaskis. We will provide wax support for the day. The registration deadline is Feb 21, but you can save a few bucks if you register by Feb 1. Race information here:https://foothillsnordic.ca/cookie-race/
    Race notice here: https://foothillsnordic.ca/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/KSM2018-RaceNotice-Final2.pdf

    AB Cup #7
Skate sprint race at the Canmore Nordic Centre on Sunday, Feb 25. Race information here: https://foothillsnordic.ca/races/alberta-cup-7/
Registration on Zone4. Deadline is Feb 21. https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=17366&lan=1&cartlevel=1

    Alberta Youth Champs
Great event down in Bragg Creek. Nicolas Lemyre has volunteered to take the lead for this event. Thank you Nic! Be sure to sign up on our club sign up sheet. Race notice here with all the new information for this year: http://www.xcbraggcreek.ca/alberta-youth-cross-country-ski-championships-race-notice/

Remember from our meeting in the fall: When there are 3 weekends of racing available in a row, it is good to break it up and just do 1 of the days when possible. So, if you are attending AWG and AYC, it will be good to take the middle weekend off or just race in the AB Cup 7 or the Cookie Race.

2004 born athletes: I recommend you race AB Cup #7 to score some more AB Cup points and work toward qualifying for the Alberta Development Team. As Rhonda told you at training, the selection criteria will be your best 4 of 5 AB Cup races. I recommend you read the selection criteria, but in a nut shell, the top 5 2004 boys and top 5 2004 girls on the AB Cup points list are named to the ADT. More details about the ADT here: http://www.xcountryab.net/alberta-development-team/
