    Western Canadians week details – CHECK BACK OFTEN

    SUNDAY: Mass start skate race

    Wax suggestions: 1) solda f15 violet, solda performance red, solda f15 blue, Swix LF6.

    Please arrive 1 hour and 15 minutes ahead of start. Plan to leave your skis in the team room, then come back to get them for warm up. Just in case we decide to change wax or add something to them!
    Pee Wee boy Start: 9:35 – 1km
    Pee Wee girl Start: 9:35 – 1km
    Mini midget boy start: 9:45 – 2.5km
    Mini midget girl start: 9:50 – 2.5km

    SATURDAY FEB 20TH – INDIVIDUAL START CLASSIC

    WAX PLAN:
    GLIDE: 1) solda f31 purple; 2) solda f15 violet; 3) solda performance red; 4) Swix LF7 or HF7 if you have it. These are all in the -3 to -8 range. Higher fluoro will be faster.

    GRIP: cleaned, sand paper (100 grit), toko green binder or similar.

    SKIS SHOULD HAVE GRIP ZONE WELL MARKED, AND NAME ON THE SKIS CLEARLY MARKED

    Please arrive at 8:45 at the team room. With skis prepared as above. Plan to leave us the skis and hang out in the daylodge. Sorry but there will not be room for kids or parents to stay in the team room- only volunteers with specific roles please.

    Warm – up times will be set tomorrow after we see the start lists!

    We will not know the specific start list until after 9:00 tonight. Check zone 4 later for start list. Or see it tomorrow.

    Here are the details for the Western Canadians. Note that this posting will be updated frequently, check back often especially the evening before a race.

    Note: There is not enough Saturday evening banquet tickets for everyone. They are being sold on a first come first serve basis. Tickets are available at the race office (biathlon building) via Norm Neil.

    We will also post some of the race details for tomorrow’s sprint here (the coach meeting is at 7pm). Also check zone4.ca for the start list.

    GLIDE WAX RECOMMENDATION FOR THURSDAY’S RACE (PRIORIZED):
    1) SWIX LF7
    2) SOLDA F15 VIOLET or Performance Red
    3) ANY OTHER LOW FLUORO GLIDE WAX WITH A RANGE OF -2 TO -8
    4) ANY OTHER NON-FLUORO GLIDE WAX WITH A RANGE OF -2 TO -8

    ALSO, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CLASSIC SKIS ARE CLEAN, HAVE THE KICK ZONE SANDED WITH #80 SANDPAPER AND THAT THEY HAVE A THIN LAYER OF TOKO GREEN BINDER (HEATED IN)

    Thursday’s race details:
    The mini midgets and younger will do a King Court format race of 150 meters (straight drag race) -Kathy will explain in the morning. The start time is 10:30am. Please make it to the team room for 9:00am

    Fri (20): Z1 recovery skate ski in the a.m., if you have time.

    We will also post a glide wax recommendation here at about 2pm. Check back here in the evening for more details about tomorrow’s race (note coach meeting is at 8pm). Also check http://www.zone4.ca for the start list.

    Sat (21): Westerns, individual start classic race. Get to the wax room 1.5hrs before your start. Proposed start time is 10am. We will need help with coordinating activities (pick up bibs, helping kids to the start, warming up, etc….). The team room will be used for waxing only, hang out in the daylodge.

    Sun (22): Westerns, mass start skate race. Proposed race time is 9:30am. Get to the wax room 1.0hrs before your start. Again, we need help with coordinating activities. The team room will be used for waxing only, hang out in the daylodge.

    Track Attack MINI MIDGETS – please bring classic skis for a longer, but SLOW, cool down ski on Sunday. Pee Wees you can cool down on your skate gear. Remember to bring something to eat (a bar of some sort, or a peanut butter sandwich) immediately after your race, also a fruit juice. You will need this before the cool down ski.
