Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say GREAT JOB to all those TA kids that raced in the BCRR on the weekend. I was really impressed at how everyone skied. The more experienced racers on the team really helped the kids new to racing and showed them the way. And the kids that haven’t raced much (or ever) – WOW you did super!
One thing I noticed about the CNSC skiers yesterday was how much improvement there has been in technique. Of course this is the key to skiing fast. On that note we will put in two good technique sessions this week to continue that improvement and get everyone ready for the rest of the race season (or just to ski more efficiently).
Monday: Classic skiing.
I want to say a big THANK YOU to all the parents for doing a great job getting the kids skis klistered up before coming to the session last Thursday. When kids come with skis already waxed then we can spend more time on the snow and less time in the wax room.
Wax:
If you haven’t already cleaned the klister off the classic skis , pick out the obvious pine needles, freeze the skis outside for 10 min and apply 2 thin layers of Rode multigrade (if it’s -3 or colder) or Rode purple (if it’s around zero) ON TOP of the frozen klister. If the skis are already cleaned then apply base binder and the hard wax over top (3 layers). If it goes well above zero tomorrow (plus 3 or above) then kids could get away with the straight universal klister again. Happy waxing:)
Thursday: Skating
Saturday: Second (and likely last due to the racing schedule) Track Attack Saturday ski. Location: Mount Shark Ski Trails. Time: 10 am, Skating.
UPDATE: All the CNSC programs will be at Shark: TA, T1/2, T3, LC and we will all head off at the same time so that will be fun! Every group will ski at their own pace but it will be fun to see the older racers in the club at least at the start! WE will plan to ski for 2 hours ( like the last ski in Kananaskis).
Bring Lunch and water and warm clothes for after.
See you soon!
Rhonda
