    Hello U14-2 athletes

Firstly, July 1 the club is organizing the annual Canada Day Run. Athletes need to sign up on zone4 HERE and parents to volunteer! Volunteer sign up sheet HERE

The next two weeks of training have some additional sessions–lucky! Regular Monday sessions will go ahead but you will also have the option of taking part in the Silvertip Uphill Run and an additional day of shooting if you are a biathlete. See the details below:

Monday, June 6 (5:00-6:30pm): Track workout at Lawrence Grassi Middle School

Meet at LGMS (Centennial Park) for a running tune-up. We will focus on running with good, efficient technique (which will help with the Silvertip Uphill Run!).

*UPDATED 9:00am* Monday, June 13 (5:00-6:30pm): Highline trail run

We’re keeping an eye on the forecast and conditions in case it gets too rainy/windy/cold to go for a run. So far it looks like fine running weather, check back here at 3:30pm for a final update.

3:30 UPDATE: A little drizzle won’t stop us. Training is a go!

Meet at 800 Wilson Way: https://goo.gl/maps/Z6qVaaS7zSmC64bn9

Olivia will be leading the group on a loop around the Highline Trail. Finish will be at the same place as the start. Ask Olivia about what it was like to compete for Canada at the Beijing Olympics!

*UPDATED 8:40am* Wednesday, June 15 (4:40-5:40pm) : Silvertip Uphill Run (STUR)

We will go for a group warm-up run before you run the STUR–please arrive at 4:40 sharp. All U14s will be finished the STUR by 5:20, suggested pickup time at the Holiday Inn is 5:40 to give time for a cool-down run (on your own or with a teammate–best to bring a bear spray!). Here is a tentative start list:

WOOHOO! Your first chance of the year to let it rip and run as fast as you can up a big hill. Meet at the Holiday Inn and go for a group warmup run. The U14 group will start just ahead of the U16/18 crowd. If you have a heart rate monitor now is a great day to wear it.

Saturday, June 18 (UPDATED JUNE 1 5:15-6:30pm): Biathlon shooting session

Biathletes only. Meet at the team room for a session where we will dust off the cobwebs and dial in our shooting fundamentals.

As always, be sure to dress for the weather, bring food and water, and bring bear spray if we’re out on the trails.
