Hello biathletes and welcome to a brand new training season! I’m sure you’ve all taken some time away from nordic skis to relax, catch up on school, and enjoy life outside of skiing for a bit. Even though most of you are returning members of the club, we have a lot of athletes moving on from the team and about as many entering the U16 program–so even though it’s the same old Canmore Nordic, this is a brand new team! As members of a new team, every one of you get to decide what kind of team this will be. Remember that as we head to our first training camp in Vernon and let’s set a positive, supportive, hard-working tone for the year to come.

We’re also welcoming a new coach to the team: Mark Naylor, Formerly of Red River Nordic and Biathlon Manitoba. Many of you have already met Mark, so you’ll know he’s a knowledgeable, enthusiastic coach who’s really approachable–so don’t be shy, go say hi. We’re excited to have you on the team, Mark!

The range has closed for renovations for the foreseeable future. We do not yet have a construction timeline and do not know when we will be able to return to shooting at the Nordic Centre; I anticipate that we won’t have the range back until the end of June at the earliest. We have plans to hold group dryfire sessions on Monday afternoons (location TBD) and shoot at the Mt. Shark range on Saturday mornings.
