Matt DeCarufelKeymasterHello U16/U18s,
This week will be the Frozen Thunder time trials (U20 and Senior Category only). No new information has been published, but typically they start at 9am and will be a Classic Sprint (ladder format) on Wednesday and 10KM Individual Start Skate on Thursday. We coaches will be there to support anyone keen to skip school for the morning and jump in. Discuss with your coach, but a general guideline would be:
U16- Quite challenging, not recommended for you to partake
U18- Pick 1 of the days that you are the most excited about if you can skip schoolIf you did not sign up for the races in your bib registration, send Cindy an email to sign up for the race. The charge should be $5 per race.
Cindy Chetley – High Performance Coordinator, Nordiq Canada: cchetley@nordiqcanada.ca
Please indicate what races you will attend on the club race signup document here. This is also where you can find links to race invitations and trip documents. Note the sign up deadlines!
Headlamps are now mandatory at evening training sessions. If you don’t have your headlamp, you will be asked to leave the session.
Flex testing: If you have new skis this year or your weight has changes by 3KG, bring your skis in for flex testing. Skis must be scraped, brushed, and free of any kick wax/klister. Note your weight in KG on the ski with a piece of tape. We will mark kick zones on classic skis and note “ideal” conditions for skate skis. We hope to get you all testing your skis more often this year so you can really learn your fleet/ feel the difference between skis. The flex test machine is a good tool, but putting the ski on the snow is the best.

Bring plenty of food, drink, and layers of clothes
Wax recommendation: one layer of base binder (such as Swix VG35) ironed into the base, four layers of Rode Violet on top. Bring a warmer wax (such as Viola Extra) in your waterbelt just in case, and it never hurts to bring colder wax (such as Violet Multigrade) along in the car in case the forecast is off.“Experience is not what happens to you; it is what you do with what happens to you.” —Aldous Huxley
