Yay for cold weather and some great first days skiing. I have been really pleased with the improvement in focus and the gains you are already making in your technique.

Please note, all Monday and Wednesday workouts require a head lamp now. We had about half the skiers with one on Wednesday night, some of which needed new batteries (including mine ). Any skier who arrives at practice without a WORKING headlamp will not be able to join in and will have to remain in the Team Room or be picked up early from practice. 😐

    Monday 9th: 5 – 6:30pm @ CNC
Classic ski on Frozen Thunder. Tonight we will work on our striding and maintaining a strong and dynamic body position. Wax recommendation is Swix Universal klister for tonight. Please have your skis prepared for a 5pm start and remember that you only need one good layer of klister. Headlamps and drink belts necessary!

Wednesday 11th: NO WORKOUT REMEBERENCE DAY.
Make sure you get out and get active for at least an hour of continuous activity.

    Saturday 14th: 9:30 – 11am @ CNC
Skating session with technique and speeds. Hopefully there is a little more terrain open at the Nordic Centre and we can start to work on some other skating techniques such as one-skate and some speed work. Regular seasons passes will be in effect so all skiers will need to have one in their pocket on drink belt!

Got new classic skis? They will need the kick zones properly marked so please, clean them thoroughly, ALL kick and glide wax off bottoms and sides, and leave them in the rack at the back of the Team Room with name and weight in kg’s clearly marked. They should go in the brown rack and not in the foam cube, thank you.

Don’t forget to have a toque handy in your drink belt, if it’s -5 or below OR snowing you need to cover your head!! 😛

Be fearless! Have the courage to take risks. Go where there are no guarantees. Get out of your comfort zone even if it means being uncomfortable. The road less traveled is sometimes fraught with barricades bumps and uncharted terrain. But it is on that road where your character is truly tested. And have the courage to accept that you’re not perfect nothing is and no one is — and that’s OK.
