Matt DeCarufelKeymasterHello TTs,
Thank you everyone who has dropped off skis to be flex tested. It is great getting everyone on the best fitting equipment possible. Keep them coming so we can get everyone dialed in. I will continue to test a few times per week putting done skis in the front half of the teamroom.
The ski swap is October 31, but remember for it to be a success, we need consignment items. If you have equipment in the garage you are no longer using, it would be great to get it to someone new that will enjoy it. Details on the website here.
We are a big club here in Canmore Nordic and that takes some extra planning to keep everything running smoothly. Please head to our Race Sign up sheet and indicate which races you will be attending this year based on the race path that was handed out at the parent meeting. Note the deadlines for races as this is necessary for us to ensure there is enough accommodation arranged and staff attending events to support all you amazing athletes. First deadline is November 1. Link to the sheet here
Racing Licenses: To race in sanctioned races (Alberta Cups, Kootneay Cup, etc) it is necessary to have a racing license. This can be a developmental license purchased through Nordiq Canada for $25 for the season or a day license for $5/ race that you will have to purchase at each race registration. Link to purchase your race license is here
You will need the following info:
Club Official: Meghan Bryant
Coach Name: Matt DeCarufel
Coach NCCP Level: CCD- In Training
Coach NCCP #: 5684433
Training this week:
Monday(25) Skate Ski @ CNC
5:00-6:30 Skate skiing on frozen thunder before it melts too much more! This is the fastest I have seen it melt in the past 10 years, so we will take advantage of it while we can. We will get our technique dialed in a bit more, then get our sprinting on. Meet at the teamroom.
Tuesday(26) Ski Striding @ CNC
5:00-6:30 Ski striding is very similar to classic skiing, so we will hit the trails a few more times to get moving well. Don’t forget your ski striding poles as we are going to focus on the arms a lot tonight. Meet at the teamroom.
Thursday(28) Biathlon @ CNC
4:45-6:15 Biathlon training while skate skiing.
Saturday(30) Running/hiking @ CNC
12:30-2:30 With the ski swap consignment happening this morning, the purchasing not til Sunday, many athletes will not have skis to ski on today. As well, the weather forecast with lots of new snow Friday will make for very challenging waxing conditions. So we will go for a running/hiking adventure from the teamroom. Bring a snack in your drink belt to eat in the middle of the session.
Costumes welcome today, just be sure you can still see/move/run.
Passion first and everything will fall into place. -Holly Holm
