Hello U14s,
Great work for those who were in Kimberley. Lots of great training and development over the camp. You will be tired, but that is a good thing and that is how you build fitness as an athlete: train, recover, repeat.
Speaking of training camps, the deadline to sign up for our Lake Louise Camp is October 5. Link to the spreadsheet here
We will be staying at the Lake Louise Hostel for the camp. As with all club camps age U14 and older, the athletes will be sleeping in private rooms (4 to 6 beds depending on room configuration) and the coaches/ chaperones will be sleeping in separate rooms, but near by to help as needed. Due to the configuration of the communal kitchen, we will have group meals prepared by parent volunteers, but athletes will be chipping in to help and clean up. Giving athletes independence and opportunity to grow has been very important to the club for many years and we find it in our best practice to continue providing this freedom with guidance to allow growth. If you have questions about these standards that we have developed over the past few decades, I am happy to discuss more after a session or at the parent meeting.
Save the date: Parent Meeting October 18 @ 6PM at the Bill Warren Training Centre. Be sure one parent can attend. If it is not possible, please follow up with a fellow parent who attends to get the information and handouts.
