The Canmore Nordic Ski Club is pleased to invite parents and coaches to attend a Long Term Athlete Development presentation.
Based on the premise that “Every child is an Athlete”, coaches and parents will learn how to:
– Build confidence, resilience and mastery in children
– Foster a passion for sport in all young athletes
– Identify and/or deliver quality sport programming
– Understand the role of competition
– Understand the importance of chronological vs. biological age in sport development
Presenter: Dr. Stephen Norris is a world leading expert on high performance systems and habitual excellence. He was the primary performance consultant for the Own The Podium initiative leading into the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and Director of Sport Physiology & Strategic Planning at the Canadian Sport Centre Calgary for the past 3 Winter Olympic cycles (2002-2010; Salt Lake City, Torino, & Vancouver).
He is one of the six advisors to Sport Canada on the ‘Canadian Sport for Life/Long-Term Athlete Development’ project and is in great demand worldwide by sport and business organizations concerning the concept of sustainable high performance & organizational culture.
