Individual start classic races. Check http://www.zone4.ca for start times. Race course maps are on the club website, please note that the stadium layout map is on the website too. Lap and finish lanes are well marked.
The fields are quite large and as a result our Track Attackers do not start until 3pm. No need for the skis to be there at 9am. Enjoy a big healthy breakfast and make sure the skis are at the team room by 11:00am.
Kids skis need to be clean. You need to clean the kick zone thoroughly, meaning no stickiness on base, side walls or top of ski. Make sure you sand your wax pocket with #100 grit paper and your kick zones are clearly marked. Kids names and categories on both skis. Thanks!! 😛Kids do not need to be there until 1.5 hours before their race time. Dave Carlson and I will be at the team room handing out the race bibs to the kids and then directing them to their coach. The kids will head up to the day lodge and drop off their back packs and have another bathroom break before heading out to warm up with their coaches.
Parking is going to be a gong show so plan ahead and leave time to park or car pool with other families.
All racing is beginning and finishing in the biathlon stadium and the best place to watch the race will be from the stands there.
Athletes and coaches will only use the tunnel to get to the start line. Kids will need to stay with their coach who will take them to the start line.
This race uses chip timing. We will help the kids with the chips at the start line.
This is a classic race. No skating is allowed and the rules have tightened up a bit this year. You can only change tracks when there is a corner. No changing lanes on straightaways. And NO skating.
Courses close at 8:50am, keep in mind that sit skiers are starting at 8:30am. No skiing on the course during the race, unless you are racing! No skiing backwards on the race course at all times. Warm up on Banff Trail or the cross country World Cup trails.
Siblings who are racing should use Swix universal klister. Put it on at home and bring it with you in the morning. If you have a question please ask me or one of the other TA wax tech’s.
