Mark NaylorKeymasterHowdy U14’s
Lot’s going on this week, take a look!
Housekeeping
We’re doing a little classic roller ski this week, if you have spare tips (or a family members poles with roller ski tips that work for your classic height!) it could be worth a change over before Tuesday. No pole tips? No sweat! We can ski just fine with your regular snow tips for this session and our next time on classics.
Lake Louise Camp
Our annual Lake Louise camp is quickly approaching! This will take place the weekend of Nov 9-11. Information can be found here in the Preliminary Trip Doc. Note that the sign up deadline is October 5th, you can sign up here using the camp/race sign up sheet Sign Up . Simply find your name on the list and select yes or no. If there are any questions please reach out to Caitlin. Here’s our plan for the week:
Monday (23) @ Canmore Nordic Centre
5:00-6:30. Trail clean up and game(s). Meet at the team room.We are fortunate to have the best nordic facility in the country as our home training area. Tonight is an opportunity to give back a little bit. Tonight we will jog out to some of the smaller ski trails and help with a little brush clearing. CNC staff have done all the cutting, we will just be hauling branches to a central location for chipping.
Please bring a pair of gloves, and usual running workout gear.
Tuesday (24) @ Canmore Nordic Centre
5:00-6:30. Classic Roller Ski. Meet at the team room. We’re going over how to ski with wheels that only turn one way! Don’t forget your classic boots.Thursday (26) Biathlon
4:45-6:15. Nice work to many of you for getting going right at our 4:45 start, there’s a lot of parts to getting set up for biathlon, every minute we maximize per session is more that we can learn! We’ll keep at it with our fundamentals learning this week. This week we’re introducing Monthly Challenge, a repeat from last year with some delicious prizes each month for the winner.
Saturday (28) Trail Run @ Cougar Creek
1:00-3:00. While Caitlin and I are away this weekend in Kimberley with the U14-2 & U16/18 group, Coach Leah will be ‘running’ the show for you all, and many of you will recognize Coach Hanne from last year lending a hand.Meet at the Cougar Creek Parking Lot. We will go for a practice-long run through the Cougar Creek trails looking to get as continuous as we can, and talk a bit of technique at our rest points. Check the weather before we head out, with 1 bar for every hour and a full water belt.
