Mark NaylorKeymasterHello U14’s
Updates from Saturday’s Team Captain Meeting in Blue.
Here is where you will find information for AB Cup 3&4 this weekend. I will continually update this forum each night after our team captain meetings on Friday, and Saturday.
Friday (10): Team Training
5:00-6:00. Meet outside team room.Classic ski drop off: Please bring your classic skis before or after our race prep session, cleaned and brushed. Base wax PS6. They will be taken to the race venue for you on Saturday morning. If you are unable to get your skis to the team room for this time, try to get a friend to drop them off for you or, deliver them to the wax area 2-1.5hrs. before start. As our race morning will be a rush to get your classic skis ready for your sprints, so it is critical you clean your skis properly, removing old grip first, and using wax cleaner with scotch-brite or shop towel to get the last bits. Taking your skis out of the line to clean, or brush them slows ski prep for your whole team!Saturday (11): Classic Sprints
Happy sprint day! Here are the details you all should need regarding tomorrow’s race.- Please arrive 1.5hrs before your posted start time. (Early I know, but this way we can get a team warmup done and check out the course!)
- We will look to do a team warm up starting at 8:00-8:15.
- Your sprint heats will be mixed category with U12, and mixed gender.
- You will be given leg numbers for your heats. They will be placed on your right leg.
- After your qualifier, you will keep your bib for your heats, and give back at your final race.
- At the end of each sprint, there will be a board close to the finish in which the teams for next heats will be posted.
- Heats will be going in 90s intervals, which is very quick, so stay close and know your times!!
Course Notes:
Check out Course Maps here if you’re interested!- You will be skiing the 500m course – Red.
- There will be 1 technique zone, on the first hill. As much as you want to champ it double pole to the top.. technique zones require you to either stride or herringbone.
- In your heats, you will be in groups of 6, with 6 starting lanes moving down to 4 lanes within 40m. This is a very tight space so be aware at the start of your heats!
- Most if not all corners will be scrubbed
One final note from the Organizing Committee, during your warm up let’s be sure to ski the right way through the race course. Let’s be respectful of the time put into making this course and respect everyone trying to appreciate the course for themselves.
Parking:
There is no parking in the main entrance lot, nor on Collingwood Dr. You are able to be dropped off through the main parking lot, but it may be busy when you arrive.
Here is where you can find the access map.Sunday (12): Skate Distance
Here are the details you all should need regarding tomorrow’s race.
- Please arrive 1.25hrs before your posted start time.
- Drop your skate skis off at the tent as you arrive. We will have drop off racks clearly marked.
- Your course involves part of your 500m course from today, but expands a bit on the edges. We’ll be able to take a look for the sides as the races are ongoing before your start. We will try to do this as a group, meet at the tent for at 9:15.
- Starts will be at in 15s intervals.
Course Notes:
- You will be skiing the 2000m course, x2.
- Course crossing: Be mindful of where you cross the course to get to your race. For your warmup, you will have to use the driving range area where the U10’s were today.
- Getting to course: you cannot ski on the course to get to the stadium area.
Parking:
Same as yesterday!
