    Hello U16/18’s

New Updates from Saturday TCM in Blue. Scroll down to Sunday.

Here is where you will find information for AB Cup 1&2 this weekend. I will continually update this forum each night after our team captain meetings.

Before you go reading below: This weekend, please remember to thank at least one volunteer each day we’re out at the centre from Friday-Sunday. Many of you have parents involved already, but countless bodies and hours go into making an event such as this run and as the host club want to make sure we’re showing off our first team value: Respect.

    Friday: Team Training

Please drop off race skate skis at the end of practice. If you do not have race skis, make sure to arrive 1.5 hours before on Saturday to drop off and inform someone when you do.

Please wax skate, and classic race skis with PS6. Scraped and brushed.

Saturday: AB Cup 1 Skate Sprint Qualifier & Team Sprint

Start list will be on Zone4. Arrive at the team room 1.5-1.25 hours before start to check in, get your bib.

Bibs for the qualifier will be in the team room when you arrive. Team Sprint bibs will be picked up by athletes, in the Race Office, located in the Day Lodge in meeting room A. Please pick up 45min before start time. Do this before warming up.

Chips will be picked up in the stadium.

Warm up on Banff trail and frozen thunder. Course closes at 8:55am [TBC]. There may be an opportunity to warm up on the sprint course for the team sprint, stay tuned.

Skis will be ready 15 minutes before you start. If you don’t have race skis, be sure to let us know when you pick up your bib.

The Qualifier individual start will not be tracked. It will be a starting wand gate, once you have broken the gate you are free to skate.

If you have classic race skis, please bring those in after your race is finished. Remember: Your classic skis need to be CLEAN, scraped, and brushed. If you do not have race skis, make sure to arrive 1.5 hours before to drop off.

    Tomorrow’s Schedule:

After your qualifier, it will make sense for you to go home and relax instead of remaining at the Nordic Centre for hours on end. Fuel up at home, get off the feet and remember to change your clothes. Return with enough time to do a 3/4 to 1/2 length of normal warmup.

Sunday: AB Cup 2 Classic Mass Start

If you missed ski hand in look below for when you need to bring your classic skis to the team room for us to process them in time for your start. Tomorrow’s kick wax is going to be a multi-step process to ensure it lasts for your entire race.

    U18: 7:00am.
    U16: 8:00am.
    U14: ~2hrs. before start.

Start list will be on Zone4. Arrive at the team room 1.25 hours before start to check in, get your bib. You will be given leg numbers in addition to bibs, these will be placed on your left calf facing outwards.

Wax your warm up skis with rode violet. Have some Violet, and Viola Extra, and cork in your pocket to wax your own skis should you need more.

Race skis will be ready 30 minutes before your start for testing. Check in outside the team room for adjustments.

Chips will be at the start. Be sure to arrive at the start at least 10 minutes before your start so there is proper time to get your chip and load the mass start grid with time to spare.

Warm up on Banff trail and frozen thunder. Course closes at 8:55am.
